What Chessproctor Is

Chessproctor is a phone-only chess competition platform for players and tournament organizers. Download the official app on Google Play to create an account, play casual or rated games, join or host events, and use optional camera and microphone proctoring when a match or organizer requires it.

We built Chessproctor because general websites and desktop chess products leave browser and multi-window cheating paths open. Our product is shaped for the phone: genuine store builds, integrity checks, and organizer controls for serious competition—while remaining free for players and organizers, supported by ads.

Novel App Proctoring

  • Play chess: Casual and rated live games with clocks, draws, resigns, and post-game review in the official Android app.
  • Matchmaking and friends: Seek games by time control and integrity preferences; challenge friends when available.
  • Tournaments: Organizers host and manage events with custom settings (rating windows, camera requirements, and similar rules).
  • Google Play Integrity and iOS Security: Matches expect genuine store builds. Compromised, rooted, or sideloaded environments can be blocked before they reach the board.
  • Anti-Mirror Time Control: Block clocks that disrupt engine-mirroring habits so you cannot copy a helper’s pace move for move.
  • Anti-Scraping Board: Two boards on screen, one dummy, so overlay and screen-scrape cheats cannot tell which position is real.
  • Mutating Chess Pieces: Piece art changes every 3 plies: standard, medieval, then a mix of both on the same board. A scraper or camera trained on one piece set loses the position when the art changes. Both phones show the same art on the same square.
  • Private Camera / Mic with on-device detectors: Optional proctoring of your space for fair play. On-device analysis looks for issues such as a second phone or another person in frame.
  • Mutual Camera / Mic: Optional peer-to-peer video and voice so both players see and hear each other over a secured link.
  • Live statistical fair-play signals: Move timing and consistency signals can be scored during play to help detect automated or unnatural patterns.
  • Integrity Value: Players carry an integrity value used for filtering and fair matchmaking.
  • Optional KYC: Some serious events may ask for identity verification (for example ID and liveness) so rated play can require a real, unique person.

Why Chessproctor requests user data

We request only what is needed to run accounts, competition, and optional fair-play features. Details and retention rules are in our Privacy Policy (the same policy linked on our Google OAuth consent screen).

  • Google Sign-In: When you choose Continue with Google, Google shares a stable account identifier and verified email so we can create or link your Chessproctor account and sign you in. We do not receive your Google password.
  • Account profile: Username, optional country, birthday/gender when you provide them, and ratings needed for matchmaking and events.
  • Game and integrity data: Moves, results, clocks, and fair-play telemetry (such as timing and device integrity signals) so games can be scored and abuse reviewed.
  • Camera and microphone: Only when a mode or event enables Hardware Lock / Private or Mutual Camera. Frames are analyzed on the device for fair-play findings; we do not keep a normal video archive of your sessions. Rare integrity checks may send a still to a vision model for a yes/no verdict and then discard it.
  • Ads: The free app shows ads (including AdMob). The ad SDK may use a device advertising identifier and related signals under Google’s ad terms as well as our Privacy Policy.

Completely Free Chess (Fueled by Ads)

No paywalls locking away core features, no hidden subscription tiers. Players get full access to competitive matchmaking, and organizers get a complete tournament suite—100% free, supported entirely by non-intrusive ads.

Universal Chess Ratings

Classical Elo alone no longer captures how strong a player is. Modern chess rewards mastery across classical, rapid, and blitz. Universal Chess Rating is the simple average of those three live ratings—so a world-class blitz specialist and a classical specialist can be compared on one scale. Rankings below use live lists from 2700chess.com and refresh about every six hours.
